A lean team set out to rethink how Unico's integrations delivered value, unifying identity verification, liveness detection, document capture and reuse, and electronic signatures into a single, scalable flow. From that work, by Unico was born: an integration that connects platforms, partners, and users, letting clients orchestrate capabilities for each journey with security and a seamless experience.
Problem
Unico's existing "by Client" integration was secure and customizable via SDKs, but required dedicated technical teams and didn't allow document reuse or electronic signatures within the same journey — forcing clients to manage multiple vendors. Key challenges: high technical dependency, fragmented journeys, lack of capability reuse, overly technical communication, inconsistent experience across touchpoints, and difficulty scaling or measuring impact. Average implementation took 90–120 days, with developers spending up to 40% of project time on configuration and testing alone.



Solution
by Unico integrates identity verification, liveness detection, document capture, and electronic signatures into a single standardized flow. Clients define the flow and combine capabilities per journey, with security, scalability, and simplicity. We expanded to new use cases including messaging and point-of-sale contexts. The authentication flow was redesigned from 9 screens to a unified, cohesive experience with standardized loading states and QR Code journeys to reduce desktop-mobile friction. The standardized SDK enabled integrations across multiple countries, unifying privacy and consent requirements.
